ABLE does not accept insurance. We are a private pay practice. Your privacy is of utmost importance to us. Confidentiality is the cornerstone of counseling. Once we get insurance involved, your sacred stories are no longer between you and the therapist because we have to share certain information for them insurance to pay. Your stories become a health record that now involves some stranger from the insurance company. We value our clients and their privacy far too much for that. Additionally, insurance companies require a diagnosis within the first or second visit and often this process is not as simple as one would think. This diagnosis will be on your record forever. Moreover, this diagnosis dictates the length of time you spend in therapy and the type of treatment methods covered by your plan. We value the counseling relationship far too much to succumb to those kinds of limitations.
Health Spending Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) can be used to pay for therapy as you are typically provided a card that has a Visa or Mastercard logo.
-
We do not prescribe medication. If you need medication, please consult with a psychiatrist or your primary care physician.

While we see the therapeutic value of an emotional support animal, we do not provide emotional support animal (ESA) letters. Providing an ESA letter involves assessing whether an ESA would meaningfully help. Though we go through years of school and training, therapists are generally not trained to make this determination. Additionally, we are not trained to assess the animal. While your furry friend may be sweet, we cannot guarantee that he won’t harm another person or dog. Given this lack of training, writing ESA letters is arguably outside of our scope of our practice and far too much of a liability for us to consider.

ABLE cannot guarantee if your insurance will reimburse you the entire fee you paid to the therapist. You are welcome to receive a super bill upon request; however, It’s important to note that the super bill submitted to the insurance company must contain a mental health diagnosis. If you choose this option, you still are faced with the concern of confidentiality and your medical record as we will have to submit a diagnosis for you to receive a reimbursement if applicable. Please check with your insurance company to discuss reimbursement rates.
